Today is a special day in the life of one of my friends. It’s one of my closest friend’s birthday – my homefri Lori. I admire Lori. She decided one day, just like that (*snap of the fingers*) that she was going to up and move herself across country to Redding, California to attend a bible school there. The day came, she loaded herself and her belongings in her car, and over the course of two weeks, moved herself out there, not even knowing where she was going to stay. Not me. I need details… I need plans… I need itineraries… I need motel reservations. But two weeks later, there she was, in Redding and while I am happy for her, truth be told, I miss her very much.
Lori is one of the most self-less people I have met. She will give you the shirt off her back or find out where to get you one and then go get it. It never mattered what crazy program or project I came up with, I would always hear: “Girl, I got your back. I don’t know how your gonna pull that off, but I’m here with you!” There is one project that is done annually that requires little sleep for about a week, and then 24 hours of no sleep the morning of the event and through it all, she is there, right beside me.
When the Kings came to give gifts to the Baby Jesus, they brought the best gifts they could give, even thought they were no where near His worth. I feel the same way about Lori. There isn’t anything I could give her that would be worthy of saying “this is how much you are worth to me.” She is intercessor by heart, but best friend incarnate.
Lori: stop reading this and go get your kleenex now. I know you are crying already, and you need to stuff a tissue up your nose, because I am not done yet. You are the best thing since m&ms and Pepsi – and you know I LOVE m&ms and Pepsi! You have been there through thick and thin and have kept me on the straight and narrow. Your accountability partnership with me keeps me grounded and I thank you for that. No gift that I send you is even a fraction in comparison to your worth. You are truly a proverbs 31 woman and I thank you for the example that you set for me every day. Happy Birthday Homefri!
You are my hero – and I want to be like you when I grow up!
Thank you Patti:) The feeling is sooo mutual! I love that you knew at just the right time to tell me to get a tissue so that I can blow my nose cuz girl I was leaking tears and everything:) I love you Patti!!! Distance will not change that! Thank you for being a constant in my life. Homfries to the End when we are chillin’ with Jesus in Heaven! Yay!!!
I’m not sure Jesus is gonna know what to do with the two of us together, in Heaven. Maybe that’s why He seperated us now… girl! Are we in time out????
